Vision Therapy

While Teachers of the Visually Impaired are not conventionally trained to participate or design vision therapies for convergence insufficiency, eye tracking or alignment disorders, there may be accommodations that can help students use their remaining vision more efficiently in the classroom, while undergoing treatment.


Deafblindness

When a student has reduced vision combined with reduced hearing, the effect isn’t cumulative.  It is multiplicative.  This means that students with low or no vision rely on their hearing to interpret the world around them.  When their hearing is also impacted, it is imperative that the hearing and vision supports are targeted to the students’ strengths..
